Low E Glass

All surfaces reflect, absorb and transmit heat. Guardian low-emissivity (low-E) glass helps control the transfer of heat to help make buildings more comfortable, energy efficient and filled with natural light. As one of the world's largest glass coaters, Guardian offers numerous low-E solutions that can achieve the proper balance between light and heat.

Technological advances in the last three decades have produced systems and equipment that can coat glass with razor-thin, neutral coatings. These coatings are made with extremely thin layers of metallic oxides and other compounds to achieve specific optical and thermal properties. Depending on the layers used, coatings can manipulate light, reduce heat gain or loss, and achieve a desired color or aesthetic.

Solutions for any climate, any setting

No matter the location or application, Guardian low-E coatings can help meet your expectations for light, comfort and sustainability. We offer high-solar-gain coatings designed for cold northern climates, and low-solar-gain for hot southern climates. Explore our solutions for residential and commercial spaces below.

ClimaGuard 80/71 ENERGY STAR® Northern Zone
Selectively lets visible light in to brighten and warm northern homes naturally, and provides insulation to stop heat from escaping.
With ClimaGuard 80/70 coated residential glass, homeowners in northern regions can obtain the sweeping views they want and the efficient heating they need. It selectively lets visible light in to brighten and warm homes naturally, and provides powerful insulation to stop heat from escaping. The result: greater comfort and lower energy bills.
  • Warms homes naturally: Lets in 70% of the sun's heat
  • Impressive triple-glazing solution: High light transmission of 73%
ClimaGuard 70/36 ENERGY STAR® Northern & North-Central Zones
Provides ample light, solar heat gain and retains heat indoors in climates with cold winters.
Maintaining indoor comfort can be a challenge - especially when temperatures fluctuate throughout the day or in between seasons. ClimaGuard 70/36 coated residential glass is here to help. It insulates in the winter, blocks unwanted heat in the summer and helps to make homes more energy efficient all year long. Plus, it provides a uniform, neutral appearance with a hint of reflectivity to enhance the beauty of any home.
  • All-season comfort: Saves money on utility bills in the cooler and warmer months
  • Thermal insulation: 50% more insulating than standard clear glass
  • Solar control: Blocks up to 40% more unwanted solar energy than dark-tinted float glass
ClimaGuard SNX 62/27 ENERGY STAR® Northern & North-Central Zones
The most impressive light-to-solar-gain ratio from SunGuard coated glass
Let natural light do what it does best with SunGuard SNX 62/27 coated glass. SNX 62/27 coated glass product offers the highest light-to-solar-gain ratio of all SunGuard coated glass. This triple silver coating is an excellent option for daylighting, making it easy to create more inviting spaces, and increase occupant comforts. Its neutral/green appearance stays true to your design vision while helping to gain the energy-saving performance you desire.
  • Top light-to-solar-gain ratio: Lets more light in while blocking heat
  • Neutral/green aesthetic: Offers a transparent feel with low-reflective, uniform color
  • Triple Silver technology: Achieves superior performance
CLIMAGUARD IS-20 All ENERGY STAR® Zones
Enhances performance by lowering U-value of standard low-E windows to help meet energy codes.
An add-on interior coating to the fourth surface, ClimaGuard IS-20 coated residential glass helps prevent heat loss in the north and reduce cooling costs in the south for ideal energy savings. This coating is durable and easy to maintain, making it an excellent choice for high-exposure applications like monolithic storm windows.
  • A breeze to maintain As easy to clean as ordinary, uncoated glass
  • Long-lasting coating: Mechanically and chemically durable, as scratch-resistant as the glass
Tempered Glass

Tempered Glass

Tempered glass is a type of safety glass that is 4-5 times stronger than regular glass. Because of how its made (through a process of extreme heating and rapid cooling) it is a much harder and more brittle type of glass. When tempered glass breaks, it shatters into little pebbles without any dangerous sharp edges
Laminated Glass

Laminated Glass

Laminated Glass is both a safety and security glass. It is made by bonding two pieces of glass together with a plastic inner layer called polyvinyl butyral. However, laminated glass cracks much easier than tempered on impact.
DOUBLE PANE GLASS
Double pane glass is when two sheets of glass are used rather than a single pane. A tiny space is left between the two sheets or panes. That space is filled with a gas that helps to increase the insulation properties of each window.
  • Better efficiency: Filling the space with a gas between the two panes increases the energy efficiency of your windows
  • Better noise insulation: Double pane glass offers more quiet time for your family
TRIPLE PANE GLASS
Triple pane glass is when three sheets of glass are used rather than a single or double pane. A tiny space is left between the each sheet or pane. That space is filled with a gas that helps to increase the insulation properties of each window.
  • Best efficiency: Triple Pane windows provide the best energy efficiency.
  • Best noise insulation: Triple pane glass improves upon the already-great noise reduction properties of double pane glass.
ARGON GAS
Argon gas is used to increase the energy efficiency and general performance of thermal windows.
  • Improves U-value, the measure of a window's thermal performance; similar to the R-value of wall insulation
  • Enhances soundproofing characteristics
  • Minimizes heat exchange through the window
  • Reduces the possibility of condensation and frost
  • Can be used in all climates
  • Can be combined with Low-E coatings for optimal window performance
  • Does not corrode window material as oxygen will
  • Does not contaminate the environment; non-toxic gas
  • Panes Windows are certified to 97% or more Argon Gas by ENERGY STAR®
  • Comes standard on all Panes Windows at no extra cost
