Double Pane vs Triple Pane Windows

Windows are used in different settings and applications, each having unique needs or requirements.

The best way to increase the energy efficiency of your window is by adding more glass layers between the inside, and the outside of your home.

DOUBLE PANE vs TRIPLE PLANE WINDOW

The bottom line is this – triple-pane windows are worth the additional cost if you plan on living in your house for a while, or if you just hate anything remotely close to a cold draft in the winter, go for the triple pane window as extra insurance against the cold air seeping inside.

A double-pane window is a window that contains a sealed glass unit that consists of two glass panes, this is infinitely more efficient than single-pane windows (only one glass separating the inside and the outside).

The best efficiency comes from Triple Pane windows, which consist of three glass panes in a sealed unit.

Triple pane windows also provide better noise insulation than their double-pane counterparts.

Ultimately, it comes down to what you're looking for out of your windows. The triple-pane glass will incur a higher cost, and that is a question for you to answer as to whether that higher cost is worth the increased benefits.

Is this your primary residence in a cold climate? The cost difference may be worth it. Are you looking for windows for a part-time residence like a cottage, or a shed? Double pane windows will do the job plenty in those cases.
